Spring is springing! And for those of us lucky enough to have a yard or little plot of land to tend to, it's our time to shine.

Gardening is one of the best ways to enjoy a sunny afternoon outside, and has been shown to have numerous health benefits, including reducing stress. Plus, you get some beautiful flowers and veggies to enjoy!

For this month's Field Tested, we wanted to round up a few go-to items that any gardener will love—whether it's your first planting season or your fifieth. Bringing you guest reccs this month is our talented friend Alex Yeske. Alex is a creative director, interior designer, and gardening enthusiast who lives in Los Angeles with her husband and darling pup, Bear.

Read on for Alex's picks for this gardening season!

1. Square Foot Gardening book

I always recommend this book to anyone who wants to get into gardening. The square foot method makes planning your garden really easy and this book has all the info you could need for getting started.

2. Flower Snips

I recently got these flower snips and am obsessed with them. They're really comfortable and cut through stems so easily—a must for any flower arranger!

3. Communitie Marfa Garden Hat

My ideal gardening hat (and beach hat!) that gives me plenty of coverage while spending hours in the sun.

4. Kinfield Golden Hour DEET-Free Repellent

I spend lots of time outside in our garden and Golden Hour makes sure I don't get bit! And it smells incredible.

5. Cosmos Purity Seeds from Eden Bros

Cosmos are my absolute favorite flower to grow. They germinate relatively easily and produce more blooms the more you cut them!
