Sunglow FAQs

Kinfield Sunglow SPF 30 rests on a beige background with the shadow of a palm tree in the corner.

You asked, we answered—we're here to answer all your questions about our luminizing sunscreen, Sunglow! Read on to learn all about our first-of-its-kind mineral sunscreen with a glow tint for year-round radiance.

How is Sunglow different from Daily Dew?

While Sunglow and Daily Dew are both mineral face sunscreens that can be worn every day, there are some key differences:

Daily Dew SPF 35 is an extra hydrating, untinted formula that is water-resistant—making it a great choice for sweaty days or sporty outings.

Sunglow SPF 35 has a light, rosy gold glow tint for a luminous finish. It's slightly lighter and more gel-like than Daily Dew in terms of feel, and isn't water resistant, making it a great choice for less active days.

You can wear them alone, or layer for extra protection—try using Sunglow as an highlighter on cheekbones and brow bones for an extra-summery finish.

Is Sunglow for face or body?

We made Sunglow to be used on the face, but you can certainly wear it on your body, too! We love adding a little to our shoulders for a summery, sunkissed glow.

Will this product break me out? Is it heavy or greasy?

Sunglow is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't break you out. Our lightweight formula uses non-nano zinc, which has been shown to help improve the appearance of acne and at times to even help calm the skin and prevent future breakouts (it’s why zinc is the go-to ingredient for calming products like diaper creams!).

Sunglow's blendable formula also contains sunflower seed oil and jojoba oil, which both mimic your skin's natural oils for a hydrated finish that won't cause breakouts.

Does Sunglow work for sensitive skin?

Yes! Those with sensitive skin should reach for a mineral sunscreen, preferably with zinc, as zinc is known for its calming properties. It's why so many diaper rash creams use zinc!

Sunglow is a 100% mineral (meaning no chemical sunblocks are being used), and uses 20.3% non-nano zinc for broad-spectrum, SPF 30 protection.

What gives Sunglow its unique glow?

Sunglow's sheer golden finish comes from a unique blend of four glowing (never glittery!) pigments, all responsibly sourced in Hartwell, GA.

Why four? We tried a lot of different combinations of pigments—many were too glittery, or too bronze, or too red, so we mixed a little of this and a little of that to create a glow tint that was all our own.

Can I layer Sunglow with other SPFs?

Yes! We love layering our SPFs for additional protection. To use Sunglow as a highlighter, start with a face of Daily Dew SPF 35, then add Sunglow to the parts of your face and body that naturally catch the light.

You can also re-apply Sunglow throughout the day for added glow!

How long will 1 tube of Sunglow last?

With typical use, one tube of Sunglow should last approximately two months—meaning less than $0.50/day for clean, mineral sun protection!

Will it leave a white cast?
No! Quite the opposite, in fact. Sunglow's golden hue simply enhances your natural radiance—no color-matching required, and no white cast in sight. Its unique blend of four pigments adds glow, without depositing color or tint, to the skin, making it universally flattering across light and dark skin tones.

Sunglow is a perfect option for those with darker skin tones who are looking for a mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast.

When should I use Sunglow?

Every day—even when you're indoors. Sunglow was made to be light enough to wear on your face every day, and sheer enough to be easily re-applied.

How often should I reapply?

The FDA recommends reapplication every 2 hours to prevent sun damage.

Where should I store it?

Keep your tube of Sunglow in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Is this sunscreen only for the face? Can I use it on my body?

Sunglow was designed to be safe for everyday use on your face, but you can apply it anywhere you need sun protection. We love adding a little to shoulders and collarbones for a sunkissed look.

Is Sunglow safe for kids?

Yes, Sunglow is safe for kids. It’s free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. If you’re at all concerned, you can find the full list of ingredients on the product page for ease of review with your pediatrician.

Is this reef-safe?

Yes! We’re all about making products that are Made Safe for People + Planet here, so we knew from day one that Sunglow would need to be reef-safe.

Sunglow is 100% mineral, and made with zinc oxide, which is a physical sunblock. Sunglow is also free of phenoxyethanol, a commonly used clean preservative that has been shown to inhibit reef re-growth.

Sunglow is a safe choice to wear in places like Hawaii and Australia that have implemented suncare restrictions due to concerns for reef safety.

What is the texture of Sunglow?

Sunglow is a lightweight lotion with a sheer, gel-lotion texture.

Is Sunglow broad-spectrum?

Yes! Sunglow protects against UVA and UVB rays.

Is Sunglow vegan?

Yes it is! All our products at Kinfield are vegan, cruelty-free, and Leaping Bunny certified.

Is Sunglow made with clean ingredients?

Yes. We believe in making products that are Made Safe for People + Planet, so we work with ingredients that are shown to be safe for use on the skin, without being environmentally damaging.

Unlike many sunscreens, we do not use any PEGs, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, or chemical SPFs—making Sunglow a go-to choice for anyone looking for a physical SPF that’s earth and skin-friendly.

Does Sunglow have a scent or added fragrance?

Sunglow has a light citrusy scent that is certified natural across international standards (ISO 9235). Our signature SPF scent is made only from natural plant oils you'll recognize, and features citrusy bergamot, fresh petitgrain, and mandarin oil, with the lightest touch of grapefruit and lime.

For those with sensitive noses, rest easy—we added it with a light hand (less than 1% of the formula), so you’ll catch a faint waft of it while applying but won’t notice the scent once it’s blended in.

Is Sunglow water- or sweat-resistant?

No, Sunglow is not water- or sweat-resistant. We recommend using a water-resistant sunscreen like Daily Dew if you are planning to be in the water or sweating while outside.

Is Sunglow moisturizing?

Yes! Added glycerin, sunflower seed oil, and jojoba oil give Sunglow a hydrating, blendable finish that moisturizes and nourishes skin with every application.

Is the packaging recyclable?

Yes, Sunglow is made entirely from recyclable materials. We used a PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) Plastic Tube that can be recycled and a paper box made from SFI-certified cardstock. Some regions aren’t able to accept PCR tubes—if that’s the case, check out our Recycling Program with TerraCycle to see how to recycle it safely.
