Will Golden Hour really help repel mosquitoes?

You bet! Golden Hour's performance has been tested against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes through two rounds of double-blind testing by an independent lab. While independent results depend on your skin's unique biome, the lab confirmed an average of 3+ hours of protection time for most people. We have hundreds of rave reviews, too!

Use It When

Any time you'd rather not be snacked on by bugs while dining al fresco, sitting around the campfire, or enjoying an evening stroll.

Directions

Once outside, spray liberally over exposed skin or fitted clothing. Use adult supervision when applying to children. When applying to your face or to children, spray into hands first and pat to apply. Do not use on the hands of children. Reapply every 2 hours or as often as needed. We recommend patch testing on a small area of skin when using for the first time or when using in a new environment, as our product contains essential oils.

Recycling

This product is packaged with a mix of recyclable and non-recyclable materials.

Plastic Bottle

Made from Type 1 plastic, this bottle should be cleaned out and recycled curbside. Don't forget to remove the label!

Spray Pump

Spray misters are made from both plastic and metal, so they can't be recycled at home. Instead, send them to us or to Terracycle to be recycled.

Game Changer

Whenever I visit tropical, humid places, I’m always the one who gets swarmed by mosquitoes within minutes of stepping outside. On my recent trip to Costa Rica, I didn’t have a chance to apply any spray after landing—and ended up with seven mosquito bites in no time. I tend to have allergic reactions to bites, so they swell up and turn bright red. The next morning, I used this spray and didn’t get bitten again.

Just a heads-up: make sure to apply it outside or in a well-ventilated area. The scent is very strong—I always end up sneezing when I spray it all over. You’ll smell like lemon Pledge, but honestly, it’s worth it. If you’re sensitive to strong smells, this might not be the product for you, though I find it far more tolerable than the chemical odor of DEET-based sprays. I also do not recommend using spray when visiting natural hot springs. My skin began to sting, but I think it was the combination of the alcohol in the product and the humidity from the hot springs that caused the reaction.

Just a heads-up—on one day of my trip, I tried the well-known DEET-based spray you can find at most grocery stores, and I still got bitten. This spray was far more effective in comparison. Plus, it’s better because of it’s ingredients!
