Golden Hour actually smells good. I’ve even had strangers ask what scent I’m wearing. But more importantly: It works. I’ve tested Golden Hour both in the city and countryside, and so far I’m happily bite-free.

The story of Golden Hour began in Bali, where our founder encountered a strain of Citronella that was unlike anything she had tried before.

It was effective against mosquitoes, grown locally on an island in Indonesia, and smelled delicious.

We then worked closely with researchers and independent labs to develop and test our perfect formula—a plant-based repellent that actually works.

FAQs

You bet! Golden Hour's performance has been tested against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes through two rounds of double-blind testing by an independent lab. While independent results depend on your skin's unique biome, the lab confirmed an average of 3+ hours of protection time for most people. We have hundreds of rave reviews, too!

Use It When

Any time you'd rather not be snacked on by bugs while dining al fresco, sitting around the campfire, or enjoying an evening stroll.

Directions

Once outside, spray liberally over exposed skin or fitted clothing. Use adult supervision when applying to children. When applying to your face or to children, spray into hands first and pat to apply. Do not use on the hands of children. Reapply every 2 hours or as often as needed. We recommend patch testing on a small area of skin when using for the first time or when using in a new environment, as our product contains essential oils.

Recycling

This product is packaged with a mix of recyclable and non-recyclable materials.

Made from Type 1 plastic, this bottle should be cleaned out and recycled curbside. Don't forget to remove the label!

Spray Pump

Spray misters are made from both plastic and metal, so they can't be recycled at home. Instead, send them to us or to Terracycle to be recycled.

The Best!

I recently used this for the first time and it is the best natural bug repellent I’ve used. We spend a lot of time in Mexico and the bugs love me. I did get a few bites using Kinfield but it was mostly due to my application and missing some areas while applying it. I personally liked the smell, as did others (I got compliments on how nice I smelled) but my husband thinks it smells like Lemon Pledge.
